Jesus Is: A Look at Jesus Supremacy in Colossians
Title: A Sunday Filled with Stories and Reflections
Greetings, beloved community!
As I sit down to pen this reflection, my heart overflows with gratitude and joy for the time we shared this past Sunday. Our service was a tapestry of faith, stories, and worship, woven together with threads of heartfelt testimony and divine presence.
We began our morning by immersing ourselves in the truth of God's love through song. Singing the song "God So Loved" felt like a balm for our weary hearts, especially after the weighty week our nation has experienced. It was truly providential that this song, selected weeks ago, invited us to lay our burdens at the foot of the cross and bask in Jesus’s love. A timely reminder that no matter the storms we face, God's love remains steadfast.
Following the soulful worship, we shifted gears a bit, and I shared a few announcements. Among them was the excitement brewing around our upcoming marriage course, "The Art of Marriage." Whether you've been married for years or you're just starting out, investing in your relationship is always a worthwhile endeavor. I encourage you to take part in this journey—it promises to be enriching for everyone involved.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) also took a spotlight as I shared updates on their activities within the local schools. It's incredibly encouraging to witness such enthusiasm and boldness from our young people as they lead huddles and engage with their peers about faith. Please, keep these young leaders in your prayers as they navigate their school year, empowered by the message of Jesus.
A theme that resonated throughout our gathering was the power and necessity of prayer. Whether through our collective prayer posture at KUFMC or the personal devotions we engage in, prayer is paramount. It's our direct line to God, a cornerstone for seeking guidance, comfort, and strength. Prayer is where we begin and return, acknowledging that we can do nothing without God’s hand in our lives.
And then we heard from some of our dear community members who openly shared their testimonies. Jeannie Gates, Ed Field, Glenda Bishop, and Robin Perkle bravely offered us glimpses into their faith journeys. Each story, unique and profound, exemplified the powerful ways in which God moves within our lives. From navigating personal trials to experiencing immense joy, their narratives underscored that Jesus is indeed worth living for. These testimonies are more than stories—they're sparks of hope and proof of God’s continual work in His people.
Our reflections also led us to the reminder from Colossians 4: Devote yourselves to prayer, act wisely, and make the most of every opportunity. These are not just directives for individual growth but are blueprints for a collective mission—impacting those in our community and beyond. As the Apostle Paul advocated, we too must be diligent and wise, making sure our lives reflect the grace and truth of Christ.
As we closed our service with contemplative moments, it was clear that we are part of something much larger. Whether you're a regular attendee or someone who just stumbled into our church, know this: God has a purpose for you in this community.
Thank you for being part of a day that celebrated our shared faith journey. Thank you, God, for your ever-present love and grace that guides us, sustains us, and calls us to shine your light into the world.
Blessings on your week ahead,
